Erling Haaland breaks silence after returning to Man City with injury
Erling Haaland says he is trying to get back to full fitness as quickly as possible after the Manchester City star was injured on international duty.
The star striker came off the bench at half-time in Norway’s 2-0 win over the Faroe Islands on Thursday evening but was forced off in the closing stages with an injury to his left ankle.
Norway are set to play Scotland in their final Euro 2024 qualifier on Sunday evening but Haaland has now been ruled out of the match and has returned to his club.
This is gravely concerning news for City, especially with their next game being against title rivals Liverpool in less than a week’s time, though it is said that the injury is ‘not serious’.
‘But he is in so much pain and somewhat restricted function that the Scotland game unfortunately comes a little too early,’ Norway’s team doctor Ola Sand said on Saturday.
The player himself has not broken his silence omn the setback, posting on Instagram: ‘Unfortunately, I am missing tomorrow’s game against Scotland.
‘Wishing the boys all the best. Now treatment and trying to get back asap.’

Whether he makes it back in time remains to be seen, and while the Citizens have a lot of firepower in their squad, the absence of the 23-year-old would be greatly felt.
Carrying on from his sensational first season at the Etihad, Haaland has scored 17 goals in 18 games across all competitions so far this campaign, and leads the scoring chart in the Premier League, with three more goals than Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.
After 12 games, City are top of the table but only a point ahead of the Reds and Arsenal, with Tottenham and Aston Villa also within touching distance.
Pep Guardiola has a number of key players in the treatment room, including Kevin De Bruyne, John Stones and Mateo Kovacic who is set to be out for a few weeks due to a recurring muscle issue that forced him to withdraw from the Croatia squad.
