Manchester United given Andre Onana injury boost ahead of Everton clash
Manchester United do not need to worry about Andre Onana’s fitness as the injury he picked up on international duty is ‘not serious’, according to reports.
Onana was forced off after 81 minutes of Cameroon’s 3-0 win over Mauritius in World Cup qualifying on Friday night.
Goals from Bryan Mbeumo, Georges-Kevin N’Koudou and Frank Magri sealed the victory, with the United’s No.1 starting in goal.
But late on, Onana dived along the ground to see a shot go past the post but the 27-year-old appeared to injure his adductor muscle as he stretched out his leg.
He received treatment on the pitch for four minutes and after being helped to his feet was able to walk back to the dugout without any assistance.
Cameroon are due to play Libya on Tuesday but it is not known whether he’ll be fit enough to play.
After that, United travel to Everton next Sunday, the start of a tricky month of fixtures that includes Premier League fixtures against Newcastle, Chelsea, Liverpool and Aston Villa.
Not to mention pivotal Champions League clashes against Galatasaray and Bayern Munich.
Onana has played every single game for the Red Devils since moving to Old Trafford in the summer for £47million, and if multiple reports are to be believed he’ll be in action at Goodison Park as well.
For one, Fabrizio Romano claims that Onana has suffered a shoulder problem but it doesn’t appear to be serious and he is expected to be fit in time to play for United.
Another injury is the last thing that Erik ten Hag needs with nine players in the treatment room, though a few of them, including Luke Shaw, Jonny Evans and Aaron Wan-Bissaka might be back for Everton.
Marcus Rashford might also be out having also come off injured on FRiday night during England’s win over Malta, but Gareth Southgate says the forward is ‘okay’.
