BREAKING NEWS: Chelsea FC named Graham Potter as new Head Coach
Graham Potter has been named the head coach of Chelsea with a five-year deal.

After taking over during the summer, Todd Boehly appoints Potter as his first managerial choice. In a thorough reorganization of Roman Abramovich’s trusted staff, the American is still serving as sporting director after replacing director Marina Granovskaia, chairman Bruce Buck, and technical and performance advisor Petr Cech.
According to Sky Sports News, Chelsea has compensated Brighton the sum of £21.5 million for Potter and the other four employees who followed him to Stamford Bridge.
Boehly’s comment on Graham Potter
“Graham Potter is a seasoned manager and a pioneer in the Premier League who fits our vision for the team, and we are happy to bring him to Chelsea,” stated Boehly following Potter’s hiring. He is not only incredibly talented on the field, but he also possesses skills and abilities that will help Chelsea become a more prosperous team.
“We look forward to continuing to support him, his coaching staff, and the squad in achieving their maximum potential in the upcoming months and years,” the statement continued. “He has had a major impact at his previous clubs, and we look forward to his positive impact at Chelsea.”
Kyle MacAulay, the recruitment specialist who has worked with the 47-year-old since his Ostersunds days, as well as assistant head coach Billy Reid, goalie coach Ben Roberts, and first-team coach Bjorn Hamberg will follow him from Brighton to Chelsea.
Potter’s comment after his appointment at Chelsea
Potter added, “I am tremendously delighted and thrilled to represent Chelsea FC, this magnificent football team. “I am ecstatic to work with Chelsea’s new ownership group, and I am looking forward to getting to know and collaborating with the dynamic set of players as well as building a club and culture that our incredible fans can be proud of.
I’d also like to express my gratitude to Brighton & Hove Albion for giving me this chance, and in particular to Tony Bloom and all the players, staff, and fans for their unwavering support throughout my time at the team.

Saturday’s west London derby at Fulham, which will be Potter’s first game in charge, will kick off at 12.30 p.m.
After Chelsea’s 1-0 Champions League loss to Dinamo Zagreb and only six games into the new Premier League season, Tuchel was fired on Wednesday.
On Wednesday afternoon, Chelsea owner Boehly visited Potter in central London for what were reportedly “good conversations” regarding the Brighton manager’s future role at Stamford Bridge and the club’s aspirations to expand the entire football operation.
Andrew Crofts, the interim manager of Brighton U21, will oversee the Seagulls with assistance from Shannon Ruth, Nick Stanley, Adam Lallana, and Jack Stern, the assistant goalkeeping coach, as well as other staff members.
Carragher: I fear for Potter
If Graham Potter were to replace Thomas Tuchel as Chelsea’s manager, Jamie Carragher says he “fears” for him and that he “should be very careful.”
“It’s a very cutthroat club, and I’m not convinced [Graham Potter] is the ideal match – perhaps Chelsea is indicating they want to do things differently in the future by putting a coach in charge instead of a manager or by changing how they operate behind the scenes. But if I were Graham Potter, I would find it extremely difficult to imagine that they will act in a different manner. They’ve just got rid of a manager six games into the season.
“It’s a significant step up in his management career and Chelsea are still one of the best clubs. They are currently the world champions, but you fear for Graham Potter that he’ll be in the same situation as every other Chelsea manager has been for the last 10 years – unless he produces results immediately they’ll be getting themselves another new manager in 12 months.”
Analysis: Potter could be the man to work the magic Boehly wants Ron Walker of Sky Sports
Graham Potter from Brighton checks all the right boxes if Chelsea are serious about completely overhauling the team over the long term, whoever is in charge.
Despite having fewer overall resources than the Blues and any of the other teams around them, his now-former Seagulls team is three points and two spots ahead of Chelsea in the table after six games of the new season.
But it’s not about that tiny sample. What Potter has been constructing in Brighton has been in the works for a lot longer. Their particular brand of passing football is the obvious result of his philosophy, but his work on the south coast goes far beyond the tactics board.
Appointing Potter, who placed 15th and 16th in his first two seasons at the Amex Stadium, will draw criticism for his decision to act after only 100 days of ownership.
However, if Boehly’s reasoning was to hire a coach whose long-term goals he can better align with, as he has privately stated, then Thomas Tuchel’s dismissal, though still harsh, may prove to be a more astute move than it seemed at the time.

The details of Tuchel’s last day at Chelsea
After the brief meeting at 9.30am on Wednesday, when he was dismissed, Tuchel cleared his desk and stayed at the practice field with his departing coaching staff to say their goodbyes.
Before getting back into football, the German manager, who started with the team in January 2021, wants to take a break.
Many Chelsea employees still hold Tuchel in high regard due to the trophies and the leadership he demonstrated under extremely trying conditions. The coronavirus pandemic and the end of the Abramovich era at Chelsea were challenging events, with the latter leading to club sanctions, unpaid employees, and concerns over the club’s viability.
In a meeting on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m., Thomas Tuchel was fired. While many important individuals, including Bruce Buck, Marina Granovskaia, and Petr Cech, announced their departures, Tuchel also demonstrated leadership during the takeover saga.
Last season, Tuchel was coveted by teams like Manchester United and Barcelona, but he remained devoted to Chelsea.
Even though Chelsea ended up making a record-breaking £278 million in summer spending, Tuchel and the co-owners disagreed on some goals and tactics.
For instance, Tuchel did not want Cristiano Ronaldo, but the owners were open to the idea of signing him from United.
On Wednesday afternoon at Cobham, Chelsea co-owners Boehly and Behdad Eghbali met with Chelsea players and staff.
They described what had transpired with Tuchel and their plans for the club’s future. Additionally present at the Tuesday game in Zagreb were Boehly and Eghbali.

Rangers Youngster Sets Celtic Fans Alight with Bold Celebration in Epic Kilmarnock Moment
Rangers Youngster Sets Celtic Fans Alight with Bold Celebration in Epic Kilmarnock Moment!
In a Scottish Premiership clash that had fans on the edge of their seats, Rangers’ loanee Findlay Curtis turned heads with a cheeky celebration that has since gone viral online. The 19-year-old, on loan at Kilmarnock, was at the heart of the drama as his side surged into an early lead against fierce rivals Celtic at Rugby Park — and he didn’t hold back in celebrating it.
Curtis, deployed in a more advanced role for this fixture, made the most of his opportunity. After Tyreece John-Jules opened the scoring and Kilmarnock doubled their advantage, cameras caught the young winger raising his arms and gesturing in celebration directly in front of the Celtic supporters in the away end — a moment that instantly lit up social media.
Although his exuberant celebration was quickly cut short when veteran keeper Kasper Schmeichel ushered him away, the damage was done — pundits and fans alike have been talking about it ever since. That kind of on-field bravado in front of the rival support doesn’t happen every day, and it’s one that will stick in the minds of supporters on both sides.

Whether you see it as passionate football emotion or a bit of mind games, Curtis’ reaction added another unforgettable moment to a season already packed with drama and rivalry — showing once again why the Scottish Premiership never fails to entertain.

End of the Road at Parkhead? Andy Walker Drops Brutal Verdict on Celtic’s Japanese Duo
“Are Celtic’s Japanese Stars Past Their Best? Andy Walker Predicts End of the Road for Maeda & Hatate”
Recent pundit commentary has stirred fresh debate among fans of Celtic Football Club, with veteran analyst Andy Walker making bold claims about two of the team’s key Japanese players — Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate. Walker’s verdict? This could be the final chapter at Parkhead for both players if they don’t turn their seasons around.
Struggles on the Pitch
Walker’s view stems from both men’s current dip in form. Hatate, normally a creative midfield presence, was recently scrutinised after a costly mistake led to a penalty for Livingston — and Walker suggested it might be time for him to lose his place temporarily in the starting XI to find confidence again.
Meanwhile, Maeda — who once electrified Scottish football with blistering pace and a PFA Player of the Year-winning season — has yet to recapture that spark this campaign. The forward is playing well below the high standards he set previously, and Walker believes both he and Hatate may have run their course at Celtic unless they rediscover their best form before the season ends.
Why This Matters
Walker’s assessment resonates beyond just match performance:
- Maeda’s Blocked Transfer: Earlier in the season, Maeda openly admitted he wanted a move away — only for Celtic to block it — and pundits speculated this block may have affected his focus and sharpness.
- Legacy and Timing: If both players fail to make a strong impact before the campaign’s conclusion, Walker argues their legacies at Celtic could be overshadowed by disappointment rather than remembered for their earlier success.
The Bigger Picture
Celtic’s squad is at a crossroads. With new tactics, fresh faces and evolving expectations under manager Brendan Rodgers, long-serving players must justify their place or risk being phased out. Walker’s blunt but insightful commentary has sparked fresh debate among supporters over who should lead the club forward — and who’s time might be running out.
