Get all Chelsea player ratings as the Blues secure all three points at Goodison Park in their opening day fixture against Everton. Chelsea’s new signings marked their debut game with a victory at Goodison park on Saturday. Thomas Tuchel featured Raheem Sterling, and Kalidou Koulibaly in his first XI in his first match of the season, while latest arrival Cucurella came in as a substitute.

All the new signings gave Tuchel a huge relief following their incredible performance that earned the club a hard-earned 3 points away from Stamford Bridge.

The game started with a slow tempo with little drama or no drama getting the end of the first half, during the extra time when Yerry Mina brought down Ben Chilwell in the 18-yard box, and the Referee awarded a penalty.

Jorginho stepped forward and made no mistake in converting it into the post; Jordan Pickford was helpless as he conceded his first Premier League goal for the season.

CHELSEA PLAYER RATINGS

Edouard Mendy 7/10

The Chelsea goalkeeper was at his best at Goodison park; he put up two world-class saves to ensure he claimed a clean sheet away from Stamford Bridge. The 30-year-old Senegalese goalkeeper maintained an impressive performance last season and is set to continue from where he stopped.

Cesar Azpilicueta 6/10

The Blues skipper was on a low-key performance. Over the week, rumors of him leaving the club were all over the media, but during the week, the Spaniard renewed his contract with Chelsea and was at his best in the game against Everton.

In the 73rd minute, he made an impressive effort that denied Dele Alli an equalizer.

Thiago Silva 8/10

Thiago Silva portrayed a quality of true genius in the football game on Saturday as he controlled the game’s flow on and off the ball. The Brazilian international did well to man the defense line giving instructions to his fellow defenders and the keeper when need be. He ensured he provided new arrival Koulibaly with all the necessary information he needed to settle into his new squad.

Though he may lack adequate spacing on the pitch, he did well to deprive Demarai Gray of pulling a threat when he blocked the Everton player and instructed his keeper to get the ball.

Kalidou Koulibaly 7/10

The Senegalese joined the Blues this summer from Napoli and was fortunate to feature in the first XI. However, he still needs adequate guidance and coaching to settle into the squad properly.

He formed part of Chelsea’s back three and did well to deny Anthony Gordon an equalizer. Koulibaly also played good ball by moving the ball forward to assist the attacking line. Before halftime, he made a clinical pass to Chilwell, but the latter was fouled, which resulted in a penalty. He was substituted in the second half of the game.

Reece James 6/10

Reece James continued with his fine form which he displayed all through last season. He was able to play as part of the back three and also on the left wing. Although, one would have expected a goal or an assist from the defender which was his tradition but the game at Goodison park was not a lucky one for the English man.

N’Golo Kante 6/10

The Frenchman had a good time holding the defensive midfield for Tuchel’s side. He distributed the ball with lots of fine touches but lack that cutting edge of setting up a goal. He had one of his shot blocked as he tried to steady the game all through the 90 minutes.

Jorginho 8/10

Though he didn’t create much chances from the midfield but was available to convert a goal from the penalty spot, which end up to be the only goal in the game. He was in position to receive good balls from Silva and Koulibaly with a display of good composure. However, his best only came in the first half as he made a couple of errors and gradually lost in the game, showing little or no effort in the second half.

Ben Chilwell 5/10

Chilwell didn’t enjoy a full season during the 2021/22 campaign due to injuThe 25-year-old probably hasn’t returned to the standard Chelsea fans have accustomed to, but he still showed his quality. The wing-back ensured he was still challenging the opposition backline and won the Blues a crucial penalty when Abdoulaye Doucoure bundled him. 6.

Mason Mount 5/10

Mount emerged Chelsea’s player of the season in the last premier league campaign, and is hopefully going to put up a better performance this season. He didn’t do much against Everton as his impact wasn’t really felt at Goodison Park.

chelsea player ratings

Raheem Sterling 7/10

Sterling joined Chelsea from Man City and had impressed during their pre-season tour. The England international caused lot of havoc in the Everton’s box as it took extra effort for Terry Mina to contain the ever-speeding forward. No doubt, Sterling has secured his place in the squad as Chelsea boss applaud him as being a priority signing for the club. With his performance so far, Raheem Sterling is really ready for a big season ahead.

Kai Havertz – The Germny international forward didn’t find it easy settling into the game in the first half. We saw him rotating position with Sterling yet, there wasn’t any positive contribution from the German.

Substitutes

Ruben Loftus-Cheek 6/10

He was introduced in the second half and was good enough to ensure a clean sheet for the blues. Within his few minutes on the pitch, he was right on point, not out of place and is ready for the season ahead

Christian Pulisic 5/10

He came in as a substitute but didn’t do much to support the attacking force. He dances around the Everton’s defence but didn’t pull enough strings to break them apart.

Marc Cucurella 6/10

The former Brighton man was brought in as a replacement for Koulibaly. In his Premier League debut game, Cucurella prove solid on the left-back and is no doubt another good addition to the defensive line.

Adrie van der Poel deelt verontrustend bericht over Mathieu

Published

on
