The 22-year-old Uruguayan forward has undergone medical at the club yesterday and will be unveiled by the club in no distant time.

Nunez has become Liverpool’s most expensive signing in history after the young forward join Jurgen Klopp’s side for a record fee of €100m (£85m/$105m).

The Uruguayan striker has been the target of many clubs across Europe and Liverpool however has won the race for the signature of the ace kid after agreeing to terms with both Benfica and the Player’s agent.

The medical to ascertain his fitness level took place yesterday at Merseyside, and Nunez is set to remain at Anfield until 2028 following the signing of his six years contract with the Merseyside club.

Darwin Nunez Transfer Fee

The transfer of Darwin Nunez to Anfield from Portuguese side Benfica cost Liverpool €75m (£64m/$79m) main transfer fee with an additional €25m (£21m/$26m) as add-ons.

The arrival of Nunez at Anfield made him the most expensive signing for Liverpool sign the inception of the club and be the 5th most expensive player in the English Premier League history.

Liverpool are not ready to risk it all as they spare no expense in seeking the possible replacement for Mohammed Salah and Sadio Mane who may depart the club this summer.

All agreements have been reached, details have been signed and medical done by the former Benfica forward and is set to be unveiled by the English outfit in no distant time.

Liverpool have done well to defeat a host of other clubs including fellow English side Manchester United in landing the forward at Anfield.

Another club that will be happy for Nunez’s transfer to Liverpool is the Spanish side, Almeria. Nunez joined Benfica from Almeria with the agreement that his former club will earn 20 percent of his transfer to any other club from Benfica. Benfica signed Nunez from Almeria in 2020 for €22m (£19m/$23m) and are due to a minimum of €9m (£7m/$10m)

Is Nunez a Good Striker?

The Liverpool manager will be hoping that his new signing will be as good as his worth when he begins his career at Anfield. The signing of the 22-year Uruguayan will further reinforce the club’s striking force as the young lad is set to play alongside the club’s January signing Luis Dias who has been a plus to the club since he arrived the club from FC Porto.

Darwin Nunez has proved himself as a formidable player in the just concluded season following his outstanding display for Benfica. Nunez scored 34 goals in all competitions for Benfica in the 2021-22 season which includes his 26 goals in 28 matches in the Primeira Liga and 6 goals in the Champions League campaign.

Who is Liverpool’s Next Target in The Transfer Window?

According to reports, Liverpool are interested in signing Calvin Ramsey, a Scottish right-back as a backup for Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Ramsey currently plays for Scottish side Aberdeen and has had 38 appearances for the club so far providing nine assists for the club in their last campaign.

90minsoccer gathered that the Scottish side wants about £9m for the 18-year-old right-back, the price is not bigger than what Liverpool can offer for such an asset perhaps, the Reds are looking forward to being done unveiling new arrival Nunez before chasing Calvin Ramsey.

Darwin Nunez Jersey Number At Liverpool

Darwin Nunez was immediately issued the no.9 shirt on his arrival to Portuguese club Benfica and has done well to prove himself worthy of the role. The Uruguay international scored a total of 48 goals in 85 appearances for Benfica before his move to the English side, Liverpool.

No doubt many football lovers especially Liverpool fans will be eager to know the jersey number that will be handed to Nunez following his arrival at Anfield. As many fans can’t wait to get a jersey with the new signing’s name and number on it at the beginning of the 2022-23 season.

If Sadio Mane’s deal to join German giant Bayern Munich pulls through before the unveiling of the new striker, then Nunez could be given the no.10 shirt at Anfield. Provided that the club has until next month to confirm their squad list, there is a possibility that they may wait and see to the success of Mane’s deal before the next month’s deadline.

If Mane remains in Anfield after the transfer window, it means Nunez will be handed shirt numbers outside the traditional 1-11, because all the shirt numbers between 1 to 11 have been taken except the number two shirt which is meant for a defender and will be a misnormal seeing a striker wearing the number 2 jersey.

However, if Mane departs for Bayern, Nunez could be wearing either the number 10 jersey or Robert Firminho may occupy the no.10 shirt while he vacates the no.9 shirt for the Uruguayan.

Other options outside the top 11 might see him occupy either of shirt numbers 16,19,27 and probably 18.

Shirt no. 16 and 19 are currently vacant following the exit of Marko Gruijic and Ozan Kabak respectively in 2021, while shirt no. 27 which used to be Divock Origis is currently vacant as the Liverpool legend has bid the club goodbye and will be on his way out before the end of this summer. The no. 18 shirt may be vacant before the end of the transfer window as Liverpool are ready to let go of Takumi Minamino.

Meanwhile, going by the shirt number he had worn so far in his football career, the Uruguayan striker has occupied shirt numbers 24,26,29, and 21. Judging by this, the striker could be wearing either shirt no. 24 or 29 at Anfield as both numbers are currently available and vacant for the new signing.

Darwin Nunez Statistics

Nunez joined Benfica on September 4, 2020, and has been so impressive thus far. Nunez was able to net 11 goals in all competitions for the club in the 2020-21 season despite coming in as a substitute in most of the matches. His second season at the Portuguese club showed a massive break-out in his career as he scored 34 goals in all competitions including 26 in 28 appearances in the Portuguese Primeira Liga. How does Nunez fit into Liverpool’s Current Squad?

Darwin Nunez will be the icing on the cake for Jurgen Klopp’s side who have been in dire need of a top striker. The club has been using Roberto Firminho who is originally an attacking midfielder as a false striker and atimes rotated mane and Salah up front which is not their original position.

The club and her fans will now sigh relief with the arrival of Nunez at the club being a formidable top 9. Whether or not Sadio Mane leaves the club this summer, Nunez will still fit perfectly into Jurgen Klopp’s current squad.

If Mane remains at Anfield, the Liverpool manager may feature Mane-Nunez-Salah in his attacking line and if Mane’s move to Bayern pulls through, we may likely witness Diaz-Nunez-Salah upfront.

Whichever way it turns to, it is a win-win situation for Klopp who now has a plethora of options in his attack and will be interesting having the likes of Diogo Jota and Roberto Firminho on the touchline waiting to prove themselves at any slightest opportunity.

Why did Liverpool spend €100 on Darwin Nunez?

Liverpool spares no expense in splashing a whooping €100 on the Uruguayan striker following the possibility of losing Mohammed Salah, Sadio Mane, or both in the summer transfer.

More also, knowing that many European clubs are in a race for the signature of the wonder kid, bidding higher seems to be the only way to outclass their rivals.

Although Liverpool may not have been too buoyant in recent times one thing is certain, the club is not struggling as they have done well to rake in many trophies in the past five years. Considering the club’s need for attacking reinforcement, spending big on Nunez is quite understandable.

Rangers Youngster Sets Celtic Fans Alight with Bold Celebration in Epic Kilmarnock Moment!

In a Scottish Premiership clash that had fans on the edge of their seats, Rangers’ loanee Findlay Curtis turned heads with a cheeky celebration that has since gone viral online. The 19-year-old, on loan at Kilmarnock, was at the heart of the drama as his side surged into an early lead against fierce rivals Celtic at Rugby Park — and he didn’t hold back in celebrating it.

Curtis, deployed in a more advanced role for this fixture, made the most of his opportunity. After Tyreece John-Jules opened the scoring and Kilmarnock doubled their advantage, cameras caught the young winger raising his arms and gesturing in celebration directly in front of the Celtic supporters in the away end — a moment that instantly lit up social media.

Although his exuberant celebration was quickly cut short when veteran keeper Kasper Schmeichel ushered him away, the damage was done — pundits and fans alike have been talking about it ever since. That kind of on-field bravado in front of the rival support doesn’t happen every day, and it’s one that will stick in the minds of supporters on both sides.

Whether you see it as passionate football emotion or a bit of mind games, Curtis’ reaction added another unforgettable moment to a season already packed with drama and rivalry — showing once again why the Scottish Premiership never fails to entertain.

End of the Road at Parkhead? Andy Walker Drops Brutal Verdict on Celtic’s Japanese Duo

“Are Celtic’s Japanese Stars Past Their Best? Andy Walker Predicts End of the Road for Maeda & Hatate”

Recent pundit commentary has stirred fresh debate among fans of Celtic Football Club, with veteran analyst Andy Walker making bold claims about two of the team’s key Japanese players — Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate. Walker’s verdict? This could be the final chapter at Parkhead for both players if they don’t turn their seasons around.

Struggles on the Pitch

Walker’s view stems from both men’s current dip in form. Hatate, normally a creative midfield presence, was recently scrutinised after a costly mistake led to a penalty for Livingston — and Walker suggested it might be time for him to lose his place temporarily in the starting XI to find confidence again.

Meanwhile, Maeda — who once electrified Scottish football with blistering pace and a PFA Player of the Year-winning season — has yet to recapture that spark this campaign. The forward is playing well below the high standards he set previously, and Walker believes both he and Hatate may have run their course at Celtic unless they rediscover their best form before the season ends.

Why This Matters

Walker’s assessment resonates beyond just match performance:

  • Maeda’s Blocked Transfer: Earlier in the season, Maeda openly admitted he wanted a move away — only for Celtic to block it — and pundits speculated this block may have affected his focus and sharpness.
  • Legacy and Timing: If both players fail to make a strong impact before the campaign’s conclusion, Walker argues their legacies at Celtic could be overshadowed by disappointment rather than remembered for their earlier success.

 The Bigger Picture

Celtic’s squad is at a crossroads. With new tactics, fresh faces and evolving expectations under manager Brendan Rodgers, long-serving players must justify their place or risk being phased out. Walker’s blunt but insightful commentary has sparked fresh debate among supporters over who should lead the club forward — and who’s time might be running out.

Adrie van der Poel deelt verontrustend bericht over Mathieu

Published

on
