Chris Sutton Demands Celtic Act Fast โ€” Calls for Wilfried Nancy to Be Sacked After Rangers Humiliation

โ€œChris Sutton Demands Celtic Act Fast โ€” Calls for Wilfried Nancy to Be Sacked After Rangers Humiliation!โ€

Celticโ€™s turbulent season took another dramatic turn this weekend โ€” and former Hoops striker Chris Sutton has made headlines by urging the club to move quickly on manager Wilfried Nancyโ€™s future after a damaging defeat to arch-rivals Rangers. Suttonโ€™s blunt comments have ignited fresh debate among fans and pundits about whether Celticโ€™s board should cut their losses and make a change at the top.

Pressure Mounts After Old Firm Loss

Celticโ€™s 3โ€“1 home defeat to Rangers was more than just another result โ€” it marked the clubโ€™s sixth loss in eight matches under Nancyโ€™s fledgling tenure, plunging supporters into frustration and sparking visible protests outside Celtic Park.

In the aftermath, Sutton didnโ€™t hold back. Taking aim at the clubโ€™s leadership, he urged the Celtic board to โ€œmove fast and be decisiveโ€ when evaluating Nancyโ€™s position, pointing to troubling defensive stats and a run of poor results as evidence that immediate action might be necessary.

Suttonโ€™s Stance: Time Is Running Out

Sutton highlighted an alarming trend โ€” 18 goals conceded in eight games, and a side that looks increasingly disjointed as the season progresses. In his eyes, staying the course with Nancyโ€™s current approach could make an already difficult situation even worse, and the responsibility now falls on the club hierarchy to make a tough decision before itโ€™s too late.

โ€œItโ€™s on whoever made the call to bring Wilfried in,โ€ Sutton said, suggesting that several questionable decisions have already hampered Celticโ€™s campaign โ€” and that waiting to act now could cost the club even more ground in the title race.

Fan Reaction: A Club Divided

The debate has spilled over into the fanbase, where opinions are sharply divided:

  • Some supporters echo Suttonโ€™s frustration, arguing that results have been unacceptable for a club of Celticโ€™s pedigree and that a managerial change could reinvigorate the season.
  • Others call for patience, reminding critics that Nancy inherited a squad in transition and may need time to instill his philosophy and build cohesion.
  • Meanwhile, protests outside the stadium reflect how raw tensions have become among Celticโ€™s most passionate fans.

Nancyโ€™s Position: Calm Amidst Chaos

Despite the growing noise and public criticism, Nancy himself has maintained a composed front. He has insisted he isnโ€™t afraid of losing his job, acknowledged supportersโ€™ disappointment, and expressed belief that his team can still turn things around โ€” pointing to moments of solid play and areas of promise in recent performances.

Nancyโ€™s confidence, even amid mounting pressure, highlights the stark contrast between pundit calls for action and the managerโ€™s own faith in his methods.

Boardโ€™s Dilemma: Back or Sack?

For Celticโ€™s leadership, the situation presents a classic dilemma:

โœ” Back Nancy and allow him time to implement his vision, hoping for a mid-season turnaround.

โœ” Cut ties now and appoint someone who might inject confidence and momentum back into the squad.

With Rangers closing in and Hearts looming in the title race, the decision wonโ€™t be easy โ€” and every match from here on will be scrutinized through the lens of this controversy.

What Happens Next

As Celtic prepares for upcoming fixtures, the pressure cooker around Parkhead shows no sign of letting up. Whether the board listens to voices like Suttonโ€™s or stands firm behind Nancy, one thing is certain:

This saga has become one of the defining storylines of Celticโ€™s season โ€” and its outcome could shape the clubโ€™s future far beyond the current campaign.

qatar 0-2 ecuador

The opening game of the 2022 World Cup played out a short time ago and it ended Qatar 0-2 Ecuador.

Hosts Qatar kicked off the tournament with a clash against Ecuador on Sunday afternoon.

Despite being the hosts, Qatar were not expected to make it out of their group.

But if they wanted to stand any chance of doing so, they needed to pick up a win against Ecuador, who are arguably their easiest test.

But when all was said and done, Qatar fell to defeat.

Ecuador thought they had took the lead within three minutes. Qatarโ€™s goalkeeper left his line and then missed the ball, allowing Enner Valencia to fire into an open net.

However, VAR ruled the goal out for a reason nobody could really work out.

Qatar then gave away a penalty 14 minutes in and Ecuador took the lead this time.

After the opener, Ecuador continued to dominate possession whilst limiting Qatarโ€™s attacking threat.

Valencia then added a second 31 minutes in with a sensational header.

The first 45 drew to a close with Ecuador 2-0 up and in full control of the match.

Ecuador were then fairly happy to take their foot off the gas somewhat in the second 45, still controlling the game but not creating as much.
