Entering their second 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match, Zimbabwe and Nigeria were both coming off draws in their previous games.
The teams faced off at Stade Huye, eager to secure crucial three points to stay competitive in Group C, especially after South Africa’s 2-1 victory over Benin on Saturday.
Zimbabwe had an ideal start, securing a 26th-minute goal from Walter Musona, which they successfully maintained going into half-time.
However, in the 67th minute, the Super Eagles scored as Kelechi Iheanacho’s left-footed shot from the centre of the box secured the equalising goal.
