West Ham v Man city Match Report: The draw by the table-toppers consequently keeps the Premier League title race open as Manchester City are now four points ahead of Liverpool that will play Southampton on Tuesday night.

Guardiola’s side would have secured their sixth English Premier League title if they win the game against West Ham but they were deprived by the home team who are seeking to secure a Europa League qualification.

The game started with Manchester City having the full confidence of winning following the superb form that saw them scoring ten goals in two matches. Although, playing away from home may somehow turn sour which the visiting team does not want to believe will be their case.

Unfortunately, Jarrod Bowen is not a respecter of the citizens. Bowen scored a brace in the first half to keep the home team a 2-0 lead.

City needed not to be told that the title is already slipping off their hands. City had been sitting on the top of the Premier League table since October, will face the greatest embarrassment if they fail to win the title.

The second half started on a lighter note for the visiting team when Jack Grealish scored an equalizer in the 49th minute restoring the hope of the citizens.

West Ham were tensed, and all effort by the home team to contain the attacking force of Man City proved abortive when Vladimir Coufal’s own-goal in the 69th minute.

With the scoreline being 2-2 with 20 minutes left to play, City’s hope of securing a victory was rekindled. The visiting team kept mounting pressure on West Ham until it paid off. In the 85th minute, Gabriel Jesus drove right into the opponent’s box and was carelessly brought down by Craig Dawson.

Initially, the Referee thought it to be a dive but after a thorough review by the VAR, the Referee Anthony Taylor awarded a penalty by pointing to the penalty spot.

Riyad Mahrez stepped forward and sent the ball in the direction Fabianski dived it. What a miss!

West Ham never let such an expensive mistake repeat itself as they ensured the points are shared at the London Stadium as it ended 2-2. Man City are now four points ahead of Liverpool at the top of the Premier League Table.

What The Draw Mean To Liverpool

With the draw at West Ham, Liverpool will be looking forward to closing the gap to a point when they play Southampton on Tuesday evening.

Regardless of Liverpool’s result against Southampton, a victory against Aston Villa at Etihad stadium in the final day fixture will guarantee City their sixth Premier League title.

Villa’s manager Steven Gerard being a Liverpool legend is up to do Liverpool a huge favour by defeating the Guardiola’s side at Etihad.

The England legend will put in everything possible to ensure that his former club had the best possible chance of winning the English Premier League title.

The Permutation Ahead of Title Race

Man City drew at London Stadium but it does not mean the EPL title is off their grip. The citizens now have 90 points with one game at hand before the end of the season. Second-placed Liverpool, with a game in hand, currently have 89 points and can make it 92 points before the final day game.

If the Jurgen Klopp’s side wins at Southampton on Tuesday evening, City will need a victory or to at least match Liverpool’s final day result against Wolves when they host Aston Villa at the Etihad to guarantee the title.

However, if Liverpool loses against Southampton, it means Man City are automatically the winners of the 2021/22 English Premier League title. A draw will make it almost an assurance for City, which means Liverpool can still win the title if they drew against Southampton and won on a high goal margin against Wolves and Man city loss their final game against Aston Villa.

Match Analysis: City Comeback Spirit

The team supporter experienced the best feeling at the London Stadium after Bowen’s second goal to mark an emotional tribute to their captain Mark Noble, as he played his last game for the club.

Knowing fully well what is at stake to the Guardiola’s side, everyone expected a sure victory for the visiting team which will at least take them six points above second-placed Liverpool with one game remaining. But West Ham had a better plan in their quest to secure Europa League qualification.

Bowen’s shocking double sent a cold sweat down the spine of Pep Guardiola and his men. Man City had not trailed a Premier League game since February – let alone to be trailed by two goals. No doubt, West Ham served them a dose of their own medicine.

Injuries were Man City’s major rivals even before the game at London Stadium, City had lost Ruben Dias, John Stones, and Kyle Walker all to injuries, leaving them with a backup selection in the defense line which West Ham succeeded in overpowering in the first 45 minutes.

However, City were quick in their response after the break as Grealish succeeded in pulling one back before Coufal’s own goal brought them level.

The visiting team walked off the pitch at the end of 90 minutes in a disappointing mood despite securing a point away at the London Stadium, Mahrez’s penalty miss made the draw seems like a missed opportunity rather than a creditable comeback.

Mark Noble Appreciates an “Emotional” Send-Off

Unfortunately, the game against City was a send-off for West Ham’s captain Mark Noble. Noble was a childhood fan of West Ham United and has been with the club for the past 18 years. The English midfielder joined the West Ham United’s Academy in 2003 and has been in the club since then.

Noble was all in tears in his farewell speech to the club fans before the game against Man City. His passion and love for the club cannot be overstated.

He said “It was a fantastic send-off from the fans today. It’s been a long lead-up to this game because I announced it last season and what a season it’s been.

“I couldn’t have asked for a better send-off. Very rarely at this level of football do you get to make your own exit and I’ve been lucky enough to do that.

“It’s the right time now to go and spend time with the family. I’ll always be associated with West Ham.

“They’ve made it clear to me, the board, the owners, and the boss that they want me to stay but I’m definitely going to have a holiday and see what happens in the future.”

Rangers Youngster Sets Celtic Fans Alight with Bold Celebration in Epic Kilmarnock Moment

Rangers Youngster Sets Celtic Fans Alight with Bold Celebration in Epic Kilmarnock Moment!

In a Scottish Premiership clash that had fans on the edge of their seats, Rangers’ loanee Findlay Curtis turned heads with a cheeky celebration that has since gone viral online. The 19-year-old, on loan at Kilmarnock, was at the heart of the drama as his side surged into an early lead against fierce rivals Celtic at Rugby Park — and he didn’t hold back in celebrating it.

Curtis, deployed in a more advanced role for this fixture, made the most of his opportunity. After Tyreece John-Jules opened the scoring and Kilmarnock doubled their advantage, cameras caught the young winger raising his arms and gesturing in celebration directly in front of the Celtic supporters in the away end — a moment that instantly lit up social media.

Although his exuberant celebration was quickly cut short when veteran keeper Kasper Schmeichel ushered him away, the damage was done — pundits and fans alike have been talking about it ever since. That kind of on-field bravado in front of the rival support doesn’t happen every day, and it’s one that will stick in the minds of supporters on both sides.

Whether you see it as passionate football emotion or a bit of mind games, Curtis’ reaction added another unforgettable moment to a season already packed with drama and rivalry — showing once again why the Scottish Premiership never fails to entertain.

End of the Road at Parkhead? Andy Walker Drops Brutal Verdict on Celtic’s Japanese Duo

“Are Celtic’s Japanese Stars Past Their Best? Andy Walker Predicts End of the Road for Maeda & Hatate”

Recent pundit commentary has stirred fresh debate among fans of Celtic Football Club, with veteran analyst Andy Walker making bold claims about two of the team’s key Japanese players — Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate. Walker’s verdict? This could be the final chapter at Parkhead for both players if they don’t turn their seasons around.

Struggles on the Pitch

Walker’s view stems from both men’s current dip in form. Hatate, normally a creative midfield presence, was recently scrutinised after a costly mistake led to a penalty for Livingston — and Walker suggested it might be time for him to lose his place temporarily in the starting XI to find confidence again.

Meanwhile, Maeda — who once electrified Scottish football with blistering pace and a PFA Player of the Year-winning season — has yet to recapture that spark this campaign. The forward is playing well below the high standards he set previously, and Walker believes both he and Hatate may have run their course at Celtic unless they rediscover their best form before the season ends.

Why This Matters

Walker’s assessment resonates beyond just match performance:

  • Maeda’s Blocked Transfer: Earlier in the season, Maeda openly admitted he wanted a move away — only for Celtic to block it — and pundits speculated this block may have affected his focus and sharpness.
  • Legacy and Timing: If both players fail to make a strong impact before the campaign’s conclusion, Walker argues their legacies at Celtic could be overshadowed by disappointment rather than remembered for their earlier success.

 The Bigger Picture

Celtic’s squad is at a crossroads. With new tactics, fresh faces and evolving expectations under manager Brendan Rodgers, long-serving players must justify their place or risk being phased out. Walker’s blunt but insightful commentary has sparked fresh debate among supporters over who should lead the club forward — and who’s time might be running out.

Adrie van der Poel deelt verontrustend bericht over Mathieu

Published

on
